Prayer letter #20

July 26, 2011

Beloved siblings in the Lord,
we haven’t been in touch for a long time with some of you. May this brief overview serve as an encouragement to thanksgiving and pleading prayers for all ministries which is done at Bethel. Our goal is not to give you a detailed report but to briefly inform you about what is going at Bethel. If you want more detailed information, please ask and we will provide it for you.

What to thank for:

  • Successful Christmas and Easter services in the local hospice, prison, house for seniors and also midnight Christmas evening church service. We were able to share the Gospel with about 200 people. There were more servants from our church involved in all of that in comparison to the previous years and we are very thankful for that.
  • Good cooperation and communication with our parent church and our new pastor who has been a blessing for us.
  • Blessing of ministry for street children and their parents through the Oasis club. About 60 kids and 70 parents were present at our Christmas party. In June we were enabled to organize a children’s day for 200 people and some of them attended the consequent church service. The last big event was summer day camp for 30 kids that ended a week ago. We are excited about the positive development and we rejoice over two sisters who were baptized during this camp and also more than 10 children and parent who decided to follow the Lord Jesus.
  • Realization of 2 ESL camps with missionaries from Canada and USA. We had an opportunity to serve more than 60 students through ESL classes and talk to about 200 children at schools. Approximately 200 persons came for the farewell parties organized at the end of each camp, where they heard the clear gospel. Some expressed a deeper interest in our faith. We also rejoice over an increasing number of mission teams interested in coming to Bethel.
  • Success with our contact activity in the form of lectures of primary prevention at local schools. Our field of work has broadened and we were able to start cooperation with several new schools. It is amazing that our town supports this activity and recommends it to the schools. Some of the students who attended our lectures came for the ESL camps and that was a great encouragement for us to continue doing it.
  • We were able to organize the Christian festival LIFE 2011. The weather looked really bad but the Lord marvelously held all rain in the clouds above the site of the festival although it was raining all around. Finally about 250 people came for the festival. We believe that the seed of His Word was planted into the hearts of the non-believers who came.
  • The surprising development in our Half-way House. In these days it seems that the Lord opened the door for it to continue. We currently have 4 clients accommodated. Three of them are open for talking about Christianity. Soon we expect more clients to come.
  • The decision of our church to reconstruct the L-shaped part of the Bethel’s building which is still in its original state. This object should be used in the future to employ or accommodate unemployed people and help them in their lives.

What to plead for:

  • Native English speaker, God’s servant, who would be willing to lead regular ESL classes at Bethel and the blessing of August ESL camp with Canadian missionaries for about 50 students.
  • Effective way of doing follow-up work for students from our school lectures and open doors to new schools in Litomerice.
  • New converts and seekers, so that their decision would be permanent and they would stay under God’s protection growing in faith.
  • Blessing of the courageous decision of the Tojnar’s family from our church who want to start operating the café at Bethel since September focused on fair-trade products. We are happy to know that the café is going to come to life again serving as a natural meeting place with public to build relationships and have talks. It will not be easy from the economic view.
  • Powerful presence of the Holy Spirit during all activities of Bethel so that many more, that we are in touch with, come to know the Lord.
  • God’s wisdom and guidance for employees and volunteers and especially those who don’t know the Lord so that they would turn to Him.

The Bible says that the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. (Jm 5:16 ESV) Prayers are one of the fundamental pillars of our work. We cannot glorify our God with deeds done from our own strength.
We appreciate your time spent in prayers for subjects mentioned above. May many more come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!

In His Love, Robert Krejci and Martin Ruzicka.
