Who We Are
What is Bethel?
The House of Christian Help - Bethel is an organization, which runs various missionary and social services for all people without any difference. Its activities are closely connected with the Baptist church in Litomerice. which has owned the current facility since 1991. Our common vision for our ministry is helping people in all areas of their life, that is, in the bodily, mental and spiritual area. We want to show them not only by mere words but also by deeds that God exists and can change a human life. Our aim is to tell people about the Lord Jesus Christ and in various ways.
We want to share and show God's love, to people around us, which leads to the knowledge of the plain truth: „We are all without exception, due to our own deeds, condemned sinners deserving the highest punishment; but thanks to God's sacrifice in Jesus Christ it is possible to accept the offered salvation through our honest repentance and then live the life, which the Lord God prepared for us. - Only He is our hope..."
History of Bethel
The History of the House of Christian Help - Bethel started in the year 1991, when the Baptist church in Litomerice bought the current Bethel building neighboring with the church. This building building served as a monastery before the communism era. The main aim was developing missionary and social activities. However, it was in a very bad shape and the realization of its repair and reconstruction needed a lot of labor and financial resources. The initial excitement about the reconstruction started to recede during the next 5 years. The great encouragement and incentive was the willingness of our brothers and sisters from the United States, who helped to complete the reconstruction in the other half of 90’s. Every year we had a number of work teams coming to help us with their hands as well as financially. In spite of this endeavor the building wasn’t finished even after 8 years of reconstruction and in 1999 we stood in front of a vital decision about what to do next. We even thought about selling the building, because the completion of the house was still to far away and it was financially very demanding. In the year 1999 we succeeded, thanks to God’s grace, in collecting enough resources in order to finish the reconstruction in one year. It was a hard time, which taught us many things. Nevertheless the Lord held us and we opened Bethel at the beginning of 2001. At that time nobody knew, how this work would extend during the following 8 years and expand over the surroundings. Glory be to God for all these things.
